Masters in Governance (MG) This program is suited for those in or intending to pursue careers in government and especially the public sector. This includes Members of Parliament, Permanent Secretaries, and District Administration, Local government, Police and those involved in public policy, advocacy and social justice. Duration: 2 Years – 48 Credit Hours Core Modules include: Foundations of Governance This course undertakes a critical review of the theoretical and practical underpinnings of the current debate within the context of the historical experiences of different countries and its implications for development and policy making at different institutional levels. Content includes: Elements of good governance, framework for governance at national and international levels, (stakeholders, institutions, systems, structures, processes and procedures), democratization and good governance Political Systems This course seeks to expose the students to political systems, theories and concepts. It examines the ways and reasons that nations have chosen different political systems and policies and the effects thereof Public Sector Legal & Regulatory Framework The purpose of this course is to examine and create understanding of the regulatory framework within which the public sector operates. Content includes foundation of the public administration in public law, management reform and the framework against which it operates. Globalization & Global Governance his course examines the causes, size and effects of globalization on domestic economies, populations and living standards. Emphasis is on economic, political, cultural, and ethical issues in the operation of multi-national corporations and governments Personal Leadership Development This course focuses on character and skill development in the life of the individual leader, from both a personal and public context.
