Purpose
The purpose of the University is to educate and train men and women committed to Christ as Lord and Saviour, from an evangelical Christian perspective in order to equip them to provide leadership to the Church and society and spearhead spiritual, social and cultural transformation in Africa and the world.

Mission of the School
To educate and train Christ-like visionary leaders to spearhead holistic transformation in Africa and the world.

The University shall maintain a distinct emphasis on a balanced and integrated approach to academic excellence, character formation, Field Ministry orientation and transformational leadership development.

Objectives of the School
The objectives of the School are to:

  • Provide Christian higher education and promote research primarily in the areas of theology, Christian discipleship, spiritual formation, ministry skill development and leadership.
  • Engage directly or in collaboration with other Christian institutions of learning, in the  discovery, transmission and preservation of knowledge for the purpose of stimulating and enhancing the intellectual and spiritual life of Christian believers in Africa.
  • Educate and train students in a holistic environment that fosters and nurtures godly  aspirations.
  • Equip students with ministry skills that will enable them to engage in effective propagation   of the Gospel, discipleship and provide leadership in a manner that honours God and positively impacts daily living.

Functions of the School
The functions of the School are to:

  • Provide facilities and resources that will enhance Christian higher education for the purpose of training Christ-like servant leaders who are equipped to help fulfil Christ's command to make disciples of all nations.
  • Participate in the discovery, transmission and preservation of Christian knowledge and wisdom relevant to the Church, and further, to inspire the intellectual, spiritual, social and cultural existence and growth of the church in Africa.
  • Maintain and develop the educational standards of the School and its programmes, as is consistent with the stated objects of the School as per Section seven of the NIST Charter.
  • Admit students into the various programmes and courses in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Statutes.
  • Determine who may teach, what may be taught and how it may be taught in the School.
  • Conduct examinations for, and grant degrees, diplomas, certificates and such other awards as may be provided for in the Statutes.
  • Carry out any other functions as may be approved by the Governing Council.
