Student’s Spiritual Life
NIST places high value on development of the students’ spiritual life. Therefore, each student is urged to set aside time on a daily basis for personal devotions.
Chapel services are held weekly. The chapel programme is designed to contribute to the spiritual growth of all.
In addition to the informal times of prayer and fellowship the School observes a Day of Prayer twice each year. Students are encouraged to attend.
Student Association & Council
1. All registered students of the School are members of Nairobi International School of Theology Student Association.
2. A general meeting of the Student Association is convened by the Chairman of the Association annually for the purpose of:
(a) Electing a Student Council to represent student interests for the ensuing academic year in accordance with Section 35 of the Charter; (b) Receiving a report from the outgoing Student Council; (c) Dealing with any other business relevant to the functions of the Student body and Council.
Student Fellowship Times
Several activities are planned each year to enhance the relationship between members of the NIST community.
The annual NIST picnic, usually held at NIST, is provided at the beginning of the new academic year. Students, faculty, administrators, secretaries and their families meet for an afternoon of eating and recreation fellowship.
Once each year, all students, staff and faculty attend a one day NIST Student/Staff retreat. Students and their teachers have opportunities to develop deeper, warmer relationships through having times of conversation, through sharing meals together and through participating in sports and games together.
The NIST community also shares tea together daily at tea time. Twenty minutes in the mid-morning and in the mid-afternoon are set aside to rest and talk before resuming studies or classes.
Students and their ministry supervisors meet weekly each semester in discipleship groups of 4-8 persons each. These discipleship groups give students a chance to share their lives and furthermore, minister to each other. These groups also function as ministry teams where the students are led by one or more ministry supervisors in planning and executing ministry undertakings.
