The Nairobi International School of Theology offers three academic programmes: the Master of Divinity (M.Div.), the Master of Arts (M.A.), and the Diploma Programme in Christian Ministry (Dip.C.M.).  Each programme consists of two primary components: Bible Knowledge that is sound in doctrine, and Field Ministry. These are blended in a way that constantly challenges students to apply classroom knowledge out in ministry.
The academic programmes of the School are structured in departments and institutes.  The current departments and institutes are as follows:

  • Department of Biblical and Theological Studies
  • Department of Theological Studies
  • Department of Field Ministry
  • Department of Educational Studies
  • Department of Leadership Studies
  • Department of Pastoral Studies
  • Institute of Church Leadership

Thesis
All students in the MDiv and MA programmes are required to write a thesis, that will enable them to demonstrate their ability to do post graduate level research in their areas of concentration.

The thesis must demonstrate the student’s critical thinking ability, mastery of biblical teaching and good grasp of theology. The thesis should demonstrate competence in their area of concentration and show ability to relate learnt concepts to the realities of the African Church and society at large.

An MDiv thesis should be 70-80 pages and MA thesis should be 60-70 pages long. A student cannot graduate without a grade of C- or higher awarded to his/her thesis. Students are to follow the guideline of writing the proposal and thesis as stipulated in the Notification of Registration Forms available in the Academic Office.
