Statement of Faith PDF Print E-mail
The philosophy and mission of the Nairobi International School of Theology are based on its Statement of Faith which is as follows:

  • The sole basis of Christian belief is the Bible, God's infallible written Word, the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments.
  • The Bible was uniquely, verbally and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and written without error (inerrant) in the original manuscripts.  It is the supreme and final authority in all matters on which it speaks.
  • There is one true God, eternally existing in three persons-Father, Son and Holy Spirit-each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of deity and the characteristics of personality (Deut. 6:4; Matt.28:18; John 1:1-3; Acts 5:3-4).
  • Jesus Christ is God, the Living Word, who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth.  Hence, He is perfect deity and true humanity united in one person forever (John 1:1, 14; Matt.1:18-25; Luke 1:30-37; Col.2:9; Phil.2:6-11).
  • Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and voluntarily atoned for the sins of all human beings by dying on the cross as their substitute, thus satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him alone (1 John 3:5; 1 Peter 3:18; John 10:17, 18; 2 Cor.5:21; 1 John 4:10; Rom.3:24-26).
  • Jesus Christ arose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He had lived and died (1 Cor.15:4, 14, 20; Luke 24:36-43; John 20:24-29).
  • Jesus Christ ascended bodily into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father where He, the only mediator between God and man, continually makes intercession for His own (Acts 1:9-11; Eph.1:20; 1 Tim.2:5; Heb.7:24, 25; 1 John 2:1, 2).
  • Man was originally created in the image of God.  He sinned by disobeying God; thus, he was alienated from his Creator.  That historic fall brought mankind under condemnation (Gen.1:26-27; 2:15-17; 3:1-24; Rom.5:12-21; 1 Cor.15:21, 22).
  • Man's nature is corrupted, and he is thus totally unable to please God.  Every man is in need of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit (Rom.3:9-20; Eph.2:1-7; Mark 7:20-23; John 3:1-21; Titus 3:5-7).
  • Angels, both good and fallen, exist.  Good angels serve God.  Satan is the leader of all fallen angels, also called demons.  He is the god of this world, the adversary of God and His people.  His powers are supernaturally great, but limited by the permissive will of God.  He was defeated and judged at the Cross, and therefore his final doom is certain.  Believers in Jesus Christ are able to resist and overcome Satan only in the power of God and the provisions God has given (Col.2:15; Heb.2:14; I John 3:8; Eph.6:10-20; 2 Cor.4:4; I Pet.5:8; Job 1:6-22, Rev.20:1-3, 10).
