Through the Government of Kenya
NIST is officially registered with the Kenya Government as a "university which had on 1st August, 1985, graduated at least one class of students," and we are "by virtue thereof, authorized by the Commission for Higher Education to continue operations in accordance with and subject to the Universities Act (Cap.210B) and the Universities (Establishment of Universities) (Standardization, Accreditation and Supervision) Rules, 1989."

Through the Accrediting Council for Theological Education in Africa
In January 1993, NIST was granted accreditation by the Accrediting Council for Theological Education in Africa (ACTEA).  Since ACTEA is part of the ICAA, the International Council of Accrediting Agencies, NIST degrees are also recognized around the world.  For any questions on the ACTEA accreditation, you can write to the Administrative Secretary for Accreditation, ACTEA, P.M.B. 2009, Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria.
