John Mbiiri, Kenya, Class of 2006 PDF Print E-mail

John Mbiiri, Kenya, Class of 2006 The Blessings of God in the midst of a slum! Pastor John Mbiiri is involved in Church and School ministry both as a pastor and an administrator.

In the church he has offered leadership in a manner that he believes is honoring to God. His time and energy is involved in the tasks of teaching, planning, counseling and training members of the congregation and church staff. He is thankful for the knowledge and skills he gained at NIST because they have been relevant to these ministries.

The school where Pastor John Mbiiri is the headmaster is situated in a slum area of Nairobi, Kenya. You can hardly imagine that to be true when you observe the behavior of the children and look at the academic results. Recently one of the children scored 421 out of a possible mark of 500 in the National examination. This was a time of great rejoicing at the child’s success!

John says that the school has also excelled in music. In August 2009 some of the school children participated in the National Music Festival held in Mombasa and they emerged as #1 in the Nairobi province.

It has been a blessing for John to be a part of God’s transforming work in the lives of the children. They are becoming more disciplined, mannered and responsible children in the midst of poverty, broken families, and a violent environment of drugs and alcoholism.  Families have been reconciled; hope has been restored to the hopeless, and so much more. Pastor John praises the name of the Lord for using him to bring healing to the hurting people of this slum.
