About NISTNIST is all about TRANSFORMATION! And the Alumni Association, inaugurated in 2000, is now going through a major transformation. The birth of an independent and fully functional office on the Jabavu road campus, is something members have needed for many years. The fully functional office has been funded in part by self initiated donations given by Alumni working at NIST, with NIST VC, Dr Bellon, ('98), in the lead. Office furniture and equipment as well as lounge seats are expected to be fully in place by the end of July ‘09. From the chair
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Welcome to the homecoming chapel. We are excited that you have taken time out of your busy schedule to attend this chapel service. Our prayer is that you would reconnect with your Alma Mater and other Alumni in a very significant way today. The Nist Alumni Association( NISTAA) came into existence in the year 2000 and was registered in 2001. The Association however, became inactive. It was in 2006 when with a lot of hard work and prayer from Esther Njenga and Judy Makau, it received a mouth to mouth resuscitation and begun to breath again. Alumni meeting December 2007
In 2007 an AGM was called and fresh elections held. A team of 9 members was elected to spearhead the Alumni affairs for 1 year. The team comprised Lucy Anne Waweru, Chairperson( 1999) Samuel Ndemange (2006) Vice chair, Esther Njega (2005) Secretary, Rev Elijah Kiome ( 2006) Ass secretary, Anne Mahinda ( 2004 ) Treasurer, Ann Barugira ( 2000), Janice Muchai ( 2006) Zacky Wanjohi ( 2002) and Habil Nakhumwa-(2008) Student Rep.
A number of events took place that year. A high tea in October to bring the Alumni together for a time of fellowship, the Nistaa homecoming chapel in Feb; a visit to the NIST land in Kitengela. All these events were a great success, thanks to you.
In May 2008 an AGM was held. All the members were re-elected, though a number of them could not take up positions.
We wish to thank the NIST administration and especially the new Vice Chancellor Dr. Bellon (1999) for his support to the Association. Through him NISTAA has acquired an office (to be dedicated today). For all those Alumni who have contributed to the furnishing of the NISTAA office. May God truly bless you.
Together with that we were able to organize a very successful carol service in November 2008.
We look forward to seeing more of you and your contributions in way of ideas to better the Association to help us serve you better. Nothing can replace your presence, so whenever a meeting is scheduled we kindly request you to attend and be a blessing to someone as we fellowship together. Know your association leaders.

NIST Kitengela grounds experience We set out on Monday 4th Feb to the fifty acre plot of land in Kitengela. On arrival, we prayed and sang praises (Pastor Christopher Khatela, with his guitar led the singing) to the Lord before Dr Kariuki, the school chaplain gave us the prayer points. It was to be a prayer walk right round the periphery of the field.
The points were: • To give thanks to God for the land, • Uproot any evil that may have been planted on the land, • Plead the blood of Jesus over it, • Pray for the availability of resources and • Dedicate the land to the Lord. The land is located on a hill which gives you a panoramic view of Kitengela and the environs!!!! It is awesome and breathtaking.
After going round we assembled at the gate and praised again.Dr Bellon gave a speech before offering a powerful prayer of declaration that the place will be used for the glory of God, and the teachers and students spread the gospel to the neighbouring peoples. As he prayed one could just visualize the place complete and looking glorious and inviting.
Dr. Kariuki then dedicated the university grounds and offered more prayers. It was an experience not to be forgotten. All NIST alumni should visit the site at the earliest opportunity. After graduation in 2008 I purposed in my heart to serve the Lord with the knowledge I had just acquired from NIST. I thought the best idea would be to request for a teaching job no matter how small. After praying about this I sent in my application to the school, but soon there was the training of trainers (TOT ) seminar which I was advised to attend. This I did and was issued with a certificate.
The VC came up with the idea of cohorts of NIST and I thought of NPC Woodley. I did the necessary marketing and publicity for Diploma in Counseling and 16 people registered for the course. However 14 joined the class in November 2008. I give God the glory for this venture as it was due to His enablement that it was possible. Thanks also go to the VC who played a major role in introducing the course.
For the next NISTAA bulletin kindly send your testimonies or any information that would benefit the Association to the Secretary on the numbers at the bottom of the page.
