Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Studies:

The Counselling Studies Department in both the Master of Divinity and Master of Arts programmes is designed to equip students to be competent counselors from a biblical perspective within the current African context.  From biblical and theological foundations, students learn biblical counselling philosophy, look at the distinctive of biblical counselling in relation to other counselling approaches and evaluate the usefulness and pitfalls of current counselling theories and practices. Students learn counselling approaches to various issues that affect society: child and adolescent counselling, marital and family counselling, and crisis counselling (including managing clients affected by suicide, HIV/AIDS, and those affected by civil conflict and strife).  The intention is to produce counselors for Africa that are biblically sound, equipped with modern and classical counselling theories, culturally sensitive, and able to practically integrate theology and counselling within their communities.

The Master of Arts program in Counselling Studies is a 62 credit two year program. In addition to Biblical and Theological courses, Thesis, and a Vocational Internship, Counselling students will be required to take the following courses:
